"I tell you,
everyone who acknowledges me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge
before the angels of God. But whoever denies me before others will be denied
before the angels of God." (Luke 12:8-9).
Sometimes we're put on the spot. Something happens that leaves us speechless. What do you say when you feel peer pressure to do something immoral, you're teased about going to church, or a friend judges you for your moral beliefs?
Don't panic! Jesus is the Lord of our lives. We can ask Jesus for the right words. He can bring us to the words we need to speak in that moment. This is when God speaks through us. This is something I know I am grateful for, because He is all knowing. His words are the ultimate truth and He knows a lot more than we do!
We may be surprised at what we will say. At how courageously and boldly we can speak. We can read in the Bible what happens when we pray and God speaks through us: As they prayed, the place where they were gathered shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:31). Powerful imagery with the ground shaking. It must
have really gotten their attention! What would happen if we prayed for God to
speak through us? If we pray to God and have the courage to let Him speak
through us, there is nothing we will have to worry about. All our fears and
worries will be gone. Who wouldn't like one less thing to worry about?
Back to school time is coming. (Sorry, I know, I can hear the groans!) Think about what you need to have as you check off your school supply lists. Think about praying for the words you need to say so you will be a good friend, a better student, a caring son or daughter. Listen to God, and speak His message!
