Romans 8:18
"I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us."
Do you have troubles? Are you ever upset? Do you ever feel like you lost hope? Congratulations...you're a human being!
Perhaps the real "Congratulations" belongs to the reality that we have someone in whom we can hope; someone who offers us a share of lasting glory in his Father's kingdom. This "someone" is Christ Jesus. Do you know him? I think you do, and he wants you to know him more.
I recently went to a portion of a retreat which focused on using the Bible as a daily read. God's Word speaks to all of us, but we need to open up the book first! I encourage you to memorize portions of scripture, spend time reading the Bible when you first get up, or when you go to bed, or somewhere in between. :) You're going to be surprised at how connected the Word is to your life.
Notice how I keep upper-casing "Word"? That's because Jesus is the Word incarnate! He is the Word made flesh! He speaks to us even now, and one of the most important ways he does so is through written scripture. Scripture tell us some of the things Jesus shared during his temporary existence on earth as a human. You'll also notice, such as in John 16:12, that Jesus knew he would continue to talk to us, but through the Advocate who would come after him. This Advocate is the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit who dawned upon the apostles at Pentecost and who is intricately dwelling in you.
We do have sufferings in this present time, but the Word reminds us that they are as NOTHING compared with the glory to be revealed for us. Notice, in the above Scripture passage, it does not say that the glory will be revealed "to" us, but "FOR" us. There's a being, a Trinity who is in love with you. You are loved by the source of Love, the one who is Being itself. This love is radical, and far beyond the love you will know on this earth, and there's nothing you could do to deserve it. Want to learn more about this love? Then allow the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, to speak to you and move you through the Bible, where you will encounter the Word, and you will be daily renewed in the hope of Heaven.
In Christ's Eternal Peace,
Kristina
